beards at campCamp UKANDU is a planned “outrageously fun” camping experience for young people who are living with cancer. It gives these kids an opportunity to play outdoors, explore their talents, socialize with other kids, and receive the advocacy they need to feel safe, secure, and very happy.

It is held annually on the Oregon coast, currently at Camp Macgruder, just south of Rockaway.

Activities include: art, weaving, rowing, canoeing, swimming, archery, field games, the climbing wall, campfire, and fishing. Special days include: beach days, a themed dance each week, and carnival day. These special days and activities can change without notice, usually becoming bigger and better.

There are medical professionals on duty at all times including doctors and nurses who volunteer their time to be at camp.

There are usually around 125 campers and 70 staff members.

It is usually the most fun week any participant has during the year, staff included.
